Land & Wave Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award Residentials include a range of outdoor activities which are physically & mentally demanding.
Our activities include but are not limited to;
Bushcraft - This can involve lighting fires, using sharp tools, preparing food and other associated woodland crafts
Climbing - Involves moving over rock, ascending cliff faces and using specialist equipment such as harnesses and belay devices
Coasteering - Involves exploring a rocky coastline, swimming in moving water, climbing, jumping from height and entering caves
Paddlesports - May involve paddling Kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboards, Jumbo Paddle Boards, Canoes or Rafts. You will be playing games and going for a paddle journey. Sessions are likely to result in participants falling or jumping into the water.
When Coasteering, participants will be required to swim and move around in breaking waves and water with currents. It is important that you are a confident swimmer.
To participate in Paddlesports you will be required to move around in deep water while wearing a buoyancy aid. It is important that you are confident in the water.
All of these activities are physically demanding and accidental injury or illness is possible.
All activities are run in a dynamic environment and conditions can change.
Land & Wave instructors continually monitor swell, tides and weather before and during each day. The activities will be planned based on environmental conditions each day.
Accidents can happen; Land & Wave does not accept any responsibility for personal injury unless we have been negligent. Please follow instructions at all times.
Land & Wave instructors will be acting in Loco Parentis (Under 18’s Only). Instructors will provide suitable supervision throughout the trip.
You must inform us about any health issues which may impact participation such as;
Inhalers, epipens or any required medication must be brought to the residential
We ask that all participants respect our rules throughout the trip including:
Alcohol consumption is prohibited for all participants regardless of age
Smoking / Vape use is restricted to certain areas and only for those over 18
If you are found to break these rules you may be asked to leave the Residential early and no refund will be made.
