Bushcraft with Land & Wave is a proper escape into the woods. You’ll light a fire from a spark, loose an arrow at the archery range, throw an axe at the target and learn the woodland skills people have relied on for thousands of years, all with a friendly instructor by your side.
We meet in the woods near Corfe Castle, one of the most beautiful corners of Purbeck, and spend the session working through real survival skills at your own pace. It’s hands-on, it’s a little bit primal, and it’s brilliant fun whether you’re a family, a group of mates or a stag or hen party after something different. Every activity is guided and every skill is one you’ll take home with you.

The heart of any bushcraft session. Learn how to build and light a fire from a spark using a fire steel, and discover why the right preparation makes all the difference.
Test your aim on our woodland range. Everyone gets a go at archery, and those aged 14 and over can step up to axe throwing under close supervision.
Work together to build a woodland shelter, or gather round the fire to cook something up. We’ll get the kettle on for a well-earned brew too.
Put out the fire safely, pack up and head back out of the woods with a new set of skills and a great afternoon behind you. Corfe Castle and the pubs of Purbeck are just down the road.

Bushcraft suits almost everyone. Families, groups of friends, stag and hen parties and anyone who fancies swapping screens for the woods for a few hours. There’s no fitness requirement and no experience needed — just a willingness to get stuck in and maybe a little bit muddy.
The minimum age is 8. Knife work is for ages 10 and up, and axe throwing is for ages 14 and up, with everything closely supervised by your instructor. We use fire, knives and axes during the session depending on the ages in your group, and every activity is optional and adapted to suit you.
None at all. Every skill is taught from scratch by your instructor, so complete beginners are very welcome.

Sturdy footwear for the woods, old clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, any essential medication and some snacks. We’ll provide all the equipment and get the tea and coffee going.
Bushcraft happens rain or shine — the woods offer plenty of shelter and a fire soon warms everyone up. In the rare event conditions aren’t safe, we’ll rearrange your booking.
A Bushcraft session lasts 3 hours with a mixture of activites depending on what your group wants to do.
You need to be 8 to take part, 10 to use knives and 14 to include axe throwing. We use fire, knives and axes during the session depending on the ages in the group.
