Outdoor Instructor Role
Craving a change of scene? Land & Wave Outdoor Instructors enjoy a daily dose of soul-satisfying scenery and loads of varied work on the South Coast.
This role is perfect for versatile Outdoor Instructors, who love working in the natural landscape instead of onsite work.
We’re all about proper outdoor adventure – that means coasteering and climbing on the limestone crags on the Jurassic Coast, raft building, kayaking and paddle boarding within the glorious Swanage Bay and imparting your bushcraft knowledge onto others in beautiful ancient woodland.
Land & Wave is an established adventure company with over 12 years experience in delivering epic school trips to kids. We’re the go-to hub for weekend stag and hen adventures and are celebrating our 10th year of training outdoor instructors as part of our Outdoor Instructor Academy.
Our pay scales are dependent on the qualifications you hold. As a guide, a first-year seasonal instructor will be on £21,674 pro rata. A more experienced, more qualified instructor with more desirable qualifications will be on £23,500 pro rata.
We also pay you an extra bonus if you are happy to act as a ‘Residential Leader’. This means project managing a school’s residential experience during their stay.
Minimum qualifications
Paddlesport Instructor
FSRT
NWSMP Level 1,2,3 or NVBLQ or SLS Surf Lifeguard
Bushcraft Instructor or equivalent experience
Coasteering experience
Lowland Leader / An equivalent walking Award
Desirable qualifications
Paddlesport Leader
Sea Kayak Leader
NCC Coasteering Guide
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Supervisor / Assessor
D1 minibus licence
Driving licence

Accommodation
There are a number of options:
– We can help you source affordable local homestay accommodation.
– You are also welcome to camp at our campsite at a discounted weekly rate
– There is a double room with kitchenette available to rent onsite, which could be suitable for a couple working at Land & Wave
– Some people choose to house-share – we can put you in touch with like-minded people to explore this option
