Day 4: Paddle Safer Award | SUP & Jumbo Paddle Boarding

Evening activities include: Sports, Camp Fires, Group Games
One staff member will be on night duty Monday – Thursday
Please bring up to £15 spending money for the week if you wish, although this is entirely optional and not required for the residential.
In line with the latest Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential requirements, participants may attend with friends or students from the same school, provided they engage fully with the wider group throughout the week.
Mobile phones may be brought to the residential but at Land & Wave encourage participants to not used phones during activities or in downtime as they can become a distraction from the experience. We want everyone to make the most of the week and build new friendships.
Once completing your First Aid and Paddle safer qualification the certificates can take up to 8 weeks to arrive.

Thick 5mm wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet. Just bring swimwear, a towel and trainers you don't mind getting wet.

No. You can start Gold directly if you meet the age requirements. However, direct entrants usually need to complete additional time in some sections.
No, you don’t necessarily need to have completed your Gold DofE registration before booking or attending a Residential. However, to have the Residential counted towards your Gold Award, you must be enrolled in the Gold DofE programme and ensure the Residential meets DofE requirements.
If you’re planning to complete a Residential before officially starting Gold DofE, it’s a good idea to check with your DofE Leader or Award Centre first. They can confirm whether the programme will be accepted and advise on any evidence you’ll need to keep.
Yes, accommodation is included in the price of £495.

After your residential and you have completed your qualifications it can take up to 8 weeks before your certificates are posted to you.
Under DofE guidelines we are allowed to accept two students onto each package, per school per week.
