The Course

The Flood Operations (FO) course is a specialised training program developed in collaboration with UK district councils and the UK Environment Agency. Specifically designed to provide emergency planners and workers with the necessary knowledge and techniques to assess and operate safely in flood environments.

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for:

  • Emergency planners
  • Hydrologists
  • Dam operators
  • Road maintenance personnel
  • Utility repair workers

Essentially, any professionals who may be required to work in flood conditions will benefit from the skills and knowledge imparted in this course.

Location

This super-accessible course is based on the South Coast in Swanage, Dorset. Easy access via road or train. We’ll even pick you up from the train station for free. 
This course includes classroom-based training, as well as in-water scenario training.

Pre-requisites

  • Must be a confident swimmer
  • Minimum age 18

More about the course

Swiftwater Rescue -04

The FO course is a blend of theoretical instruction and practical in-water sessions, totalling 12 contact hours over 2 days. Participants will gain insights into flood dynamics, hazard identification, and effective response strategies to ensure safety and efficiency during flood operations.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification valid for 3 years, with options for recertification through the same course or advanced training programs.

By undertaking the Flood Operations course, professionals will be better prepared to handle the challenges posed by flood environments, enhancing both personal safety and operational effectiveness.
