Embracing the micro adventure
We’ve long been fans of Alastair Humphrey’s ‘micro-adventure’ philosophy – switching the working day on it’ head and squeezing as much adventure between 5pm – 9am.
So we decided to challenge the UK’s best adventure brands and influencers to discover how much fun they could squeeze into 24 hours…
The guest list included:
Alex Miller from Beyonk
Becky Gosney from Strength and Motion
Sharon Poulter from Decathlon
Dwayne Fields – UK Scout ambassador
Ian Elliot from Elliot Brown Watches
Fi Darby from Two Blondes Walking
Frederick Ray from Three Dumbbells Podcast
Jack Knowles from Gul
Hetty Key from Women in Adventure
Holly Budge – First woman to skydive Everest
Jonathan Rider – Expedition paddler
Matthew Carter from Three Dumbbells Podcast
Vicky Swyer and Lucy Hagan from Osprey
Sebastian Johannson from Three Dumbbells Podcast
Jo Lowe & Stephanie Briggs from Spring PR
Simon Robinson from Ardblair Sports
Stuart Poynter from Tiki
We wanted to prove how much adventure you can cram into 24 hours AND showcase Dorset (we are biased but it IS pretty damn great here). The result was an incredible meeting of like-minded people and the blossoming of future collaborative relationships.
Here’s what we got up to…
Day 1
12.30 Arrival in Dorset
13.30 Afternoon in the woods – Deer Butchery, Archery, Axe Throwing and Fire Lighting
18:30 Arrival at our private rural campsite overlooking iconic Corfe Castle
19:30 Sunset dinner at a secret Dorset spot (10 adventure bonus points if you know it!)
21:30 Evening drinks and chats around a roaring campfire
00.00 Overnight stay in beautiful bell tents (with real beds – proper luxury glamping!)
Day 2
08:00 Yoga in camp with Becky Gosney
09:30 Delicious breakfast at camp (think bacon butties, pastries – the works!)
11:30 Morning at the beach – Jumbo Paddle Boarding and Individual SUP boards
12.30 Departure – 24 hours DONE
Our 24-hour adventure took us from our comfy base camp, to enchanting woodland, to a secret sunset spot, a night under canvas right through to a golden sandy beach.
What an amazing 24 hours jam-packed full of adventure, conversations and connections all in the Great Outdoors. It was a lovely bunch of people and we can’t thank everyone enough who took time out to join us.
All our adventures received a spectactular goodie bag of treats. A BIG special thanks to partners Corrymoor Socks, Kind Bars, NikWax, Hydroflask, Osprey, Spring PR, and Conker Gin for their very generous gifts.
We’ll be running another event for adventurers and brands to meet again in the Autumn. If you’re interested in joining us, email [email protected].
