SEA KAYAK LEADER COURSES IN THE SOUTH WEST, DORSET
- You must be able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions
This course is boat-based.
- You must old the current Paddle Explore Award, 2 Star Award or be of equivalent ability due to the paddling environment and the boat control required to complete the course
A First Aid certificate is not a prerequisite. However, holding a First Aid certificate is strongly recommended for all paddlers.

This course is based in Swanage, Dorset. You will be sent the exact address upon booking.
Yes we provide a craft at no extra cost to you.
You are welcome to bring your own craft if preferred.
Please come with your own PPE (personal protection equipment). You need to bring a warm winter wetsuit or drysuit, a buoyancy aid and suitable footwear for the water.
You will also need a hearty packed lunch, snacks and drink for the day (there are no shops near by).

Paddlesports may involve paddling Kayaks, Stand up Paddleboards, Jumbo Paddle Boards or Canoes. You will be playing games and going for a paddle journey. Sessions are likely to result in participants falling or jumping into the water.
Land & Wave paddlesports are Swanage Bay and Poole harbour.
The sea is a dynamic environment and conditions can change. Land & Wave Instructors continually monitor swell and tides before and during your sessions.
You will be required to move around in deep water while wearing a buoyancy aid. It is important that you are confident in the water and understand what you will be doing.
Your session may be cut short or cancelled at any point if the instructor deems it inappropriate based on environmental conditions or any dynamic risk beyond their control.
You will be involved throughout the activity in the decision making process. If you feel overwhelmed or unwell at any point you MUST tell your instructor who will be able to react accordingly.
Accidents can happen; Land & Wave does not accept any responsibility for personal injury unless we have been negligent.
You must tell your instructor now about any health issues which may impact your participation such as;
Inhalers, epipens or any required medication must be carried on your activity.
