We’ve worked really hard over the last ten years to build up strong, positive relationships with schools from across the country, using the company ethos as the driving force behind everything we do.
This positive attitude and reputation saw 74 different schools join us for residential trips during 2018, allowing Land & Wave to work with 4,287 kids. This is something we are really proud of, but as is the Land & Wave way, we’re not content to sit on our laurels and we want to encourage even more schools and kids to join us for 2019 and beyond.
It’s not just Dorset schools who have been joining us though; we’ve been joined by schools from as far afield as Enfield in North London, Dartford in Kent, Swindon in Wiltshire and Exeter in Devon.
2019 is already shaping up to be another excellent year, with 94% of this year’s schools set to return, bringing the next wave of kids to our home in sunny Swanage, Dorset. The 6% of those not returning are purely through either school budget cuts or because they skip a year and have already booked in for the 2020 season.
Schools Manager Vicki Canning said: ‘These figures are really positive and reflect how our schools feel about the quality and value of the experiences we offer. Its brilliant that we are drawing in these schools from London and Swindon and it just goes to show that there really isn’t a substitute for real adventures in real locations.’
In addition to the renowned indoor and outdoor residentials, which make use of The Swanage Centre or our dedicated private campsite on the Isle of Purbeck in view of Corfe Castle; Land & Wave now offer a specific ‘First Aid and Life Saving’ residential which includes outdoor adventure and the use of incredible landscapes, ensuring students are energised and switched on during their learning.
After years of campaigning, the government has now made the teaching of first aid skills and CPR a mandatory inclusion to the national curriculum from 2020, with the aim of empowering every school child with skills that could help save somebodies life in case of an emergency.
We are perfectly placed to help teachers deliver a host of curriculum objectives in an engaging, powerful way. Now is the time to get students working on these essential life skills on a residential that has been developed to build student’s resilience, independence and knowledge.
Delivered by our expert NUCO-accredited First Aid trainers and RLSS-accredited Life Saving instructors, this course is ideal for Year 5 pupils right up to Sixth Formers.
Teachers will be able to choose from a 3, 4 or 5-day programme which can be tailored to cover additional objectives such as: Navigation & Compass Work, Field Studies and Historical Corfe Castle Trips.
Land & Wave offer residentials all through the year and have a dedicated team of instructors who will ensure that every child’s experience is the very best it can be.
If you’re not sure, we will be running a free teacher weekend in March where teachers will be able to experience what Land & Wave is about. Spaces are already being booking up fast.
So the only question left to answer is ‘Have you booked your 2019 School Residential with us yet?’
