Helping Children Connect With Nature
The Purbeck Goes Wild project was spearheaded by the National Trust, who helped bring together a huge local network of outdoor providers, schools, landowners, charities and youth workers. By pooling the network’s resources, the Purbeck Goes Wild project can provide access for Purbeck young people to get out in natures.
‘Purbeck Goes Wild’ APP
As part of the Purbeck Goes Wild launch, there is an exclusive an app for young people to use to help them unlock the local area’s secret nature gems. Purbeck children will be sent a secret passcode in their school book bags to access this special locals-only app. You can download it here: https://www.getwylder.co.uk/
School Trip Support
As part of the pledge to support the ‘Purbeck Goes Wild’ Network, outdoor providers, Land & Wave and Cumulus Outdoors have both pledged to provide every Purbeck school with a FREE minibus journey for children to explore the local area. Land & Wave Director, Rosie, says;
“Access and transportation costs are one of the biggest barriers for local kids accessing local nature. We have the resources available, so it’s one small way we can help break down those blockades and get children into the Great Outdoors.”
