Our week ticks the residential section of your Gold Award in full. Five days, four nights, alongside a group of people your age from all over the country. That’s the requirement – and honestly, it’s the best bit. Everyone arrives not knowing anyone, and everyone leaves with a group chat that won’t stop pinging.

We’re based in Swanage, on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Think sea swims before breakfast, sandy feet, and evenings watching the sun drop behind the Purbeck hills. Your campsite has a view most people would pay serious money for – Corfe Castle sitting on its hilltop in the distance, glowing gold in the evening light. 3. Gain 2 qualifications for your CV and UCAS application

This is the bit parents love. During your Gold DofE residential you’ll gain two nationally recognised qualifications: an RLSS-accredited Emergency First Aid qualification and the PaddleUK Paddle Safer Award. Real certificates that go straight onto your CV and UCAS application.

If you’re heading towards uni interviews, this is gold dust (pun intended). Admissions tutors read hundreds of personal statements. “I spent a week gaining outdoor qualifications, living with strangers and learning to lead” stands out a lot more than another week on the sofa. 4. Adventure activities all week

This isn’t a sit-in-a-classroom kind of week. You’ll be out doing the things we do best: coasteering along the cliffs, kayaking and paddleboarding in Swanage Bay, climbing on sea cliffs, and plenty more besides. Our instructors do this for a living, all year round, and they love nothing more than getting a new group hooked on the outdoors.

You don’t need to be sporty or experienced. You just need to be up for it.
