We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join our administration team at our Swanage office. This role is ideal for someone starting out who’s keen to learn, get hands-on experience, and grow their skills in a fun, fast-paced environment. As a finance assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our financial operations and understanding the essentials.
The initial contract is 8 months, with the potential to extend based on performance and business needs.
Pay & working pattern
- £12.71 per hour (approx. £26,400 per annum, full-time equivalent)
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00
- A 4-day week (pro rata) may be considered
- You’ll work 1 weekend per month from May to August to support our peak season
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting with purchase and sales invoice processing
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Helping with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with payment runs and general finance administration
- Maintaining accurate financial records within Xero accounting software
- Supporting month-end finance tasks
- Responding to finance-related queries from colleagues and suppliers
- Helping with ad-hoc finance and admin tasks as required
What we’re looking for
- Some experience in a finance, accounts, or admin role, or relevant education
- A genuine interest in starting a career in finance or accounting
- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn
- Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets
- Organised, reliable, and able to work in a busy team environment
- Experience with Xero is a bonus (but not essential)
- Studying or interested in studying AAT or similar is a plus
