Dorset Video Project

The really big news this month was that on the 23 November, after 9 months of filming and post production, the Dorset Video Project premiered to a packed audience at Jimmy’s Iced Coffee in Christchurch.

Simultaneously released across social media, the project was a massive success, with over 400K  views within the first week.

As part of the premier, loads of money was raised for the Dorset Children’s Foundation.

Outdoor Instructor Training

The Outdoor Instructor Training class of 2018/19 have been bonding and getting to grips with all the activities on offer.

This month they started developing their coaching skills. Having already achieved three RLSS qualifications (Water Safety Awareness, Environment Specific and In Water Rescue) and their NUCO Level 2 first aid qualification, they have been working towards their British Canoeing and Paddle Sport instructor qualifications as well.

The end of the month saw the trainees battling against the elements as the Isle of Purbeck dealt with the gale force winds and driving rain courtesy of Storm Diana, but even that didn’t dampen their energy to get out there and learn new skills.

If you would like to join us as part of the class of 2019/20, have a look here to find our more Outdoor Instructor Training

Our next open day is taking place on 16 February 2019 and this will give you a great taste of what to expect and how to take that next step.

Schools

It may be the start of the Winter season, but we continued to deliver epic adventures and make the very most of the milder early November weather. We welcomed schools, NCS groups and even Canterbury University for some amazing adventures. Proof that winter residentials are the best thing for promoting resilience and team work in young people.

Blue Friday

As everyone scrambled around for Black Friday deals, we rebelled against this mass commercialisation and went for Blue Friday instead. The week-long campaign saw us donating £5 to Surfers Against Swanage for every ‘Disconnect to Reconnect’ Adventure Voucher booked.

If you would like to purchase a ‘Disconnect to Reconnect’ Land & Wave adventure voucher, click here. They start from only £22.

End of Year Adventure

With our ethos of encouraging people to get outdoors, we offered a 50% discount on Autumn coasteering and survival skills sessions proving that jumping in the sea or hurling axes feels great any time of year.

The community knew a good deal when they saw it, and joined us for some end of year adventure in the sea and the woods.

The Christmas Party (Yes, in November)

On the final Friday of the month we held our Christmas Party. The team were decked out in their ‘finest’ Christmas jumpers and although about a month early, the team enjoyed a little bit of Christmas cheer.

Starting off with a ‘no plastic’ secret Santa in the office, the team headed off for an evening in Bournemouth, culminating in a little bit of crazy golf at Mr Mulligans. Highly recommended.

Careers opportunities

A great 2018 may be coming to an end, so we’ve started to look forward to delivering epic adventures all through 2019. To help achieve our goals, we’ve opened up applications for Seasonal and Assistant Instructors, as well as a number of office-based opportunities.

If you fancy joining us, have a look at our Outdoor Instructor Training.
