Venison is incredible stuff; healthy, ethical, tasty and versatile.

We’ve put together some videos (7) that should help you buy, prepare and enjoy an entire deer, watch the whole series to learn some great new skills.

There are no big predators left in the UK. We must cull (shoot) some deer to maintain the health of each species and the landscapes they live in.

There are 6 species of deer in the UK.

Red and Roe have been here since the Holocene glacial retreat about 11,000 years ago.

Fallow deer came over with the Romans, died out, and then were reintroduced by the Normans after 1066.

Sika, Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer are all recently(ish) introduced alien/ invasive species.

Why eat Vension?

  • Eating Venison is ethical and humane

DON’T buy venison from the supermarket – most of that venison will be farmed, often in New Zealand.

DO buy venison from your local game dealer (30 seconds on Google), it’ll be cheap, high quality and have very, very low food miles
