Depending on the course, you’ll gain PaddleUK (British Canoeing) awards, NUCO first aid, RLSS beach lifeguard qualifications, Mountain Training RCI Training, Lowland Leader award and outdoor leadership certificates that make you employable worldwide.
Who can apply for Instructor Training?
Anyone over the age of 18 with a love for the outdoors can apply. You don’t need previous experience – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you are close to being 18 by the start of the course, we may be able to accept you onto the course. The average age of trainees varies between 18 and 60
How much does Instructor Training cost?
Prices vary between £5K and £11k depending on whether you choose the 15-week Outdoor Instructor course or the 7-week Paddlesports Instructor course. Prices include all food and accommodation. Land & Wave offers flexible payment options to make it accessible. There is also a loan available that you can spread the cost over 5-years.
What jobs can I get after Instructor Training?
Graduates work in schools, outdoor centres, holiday resorts, and adventure companies. Some even go freelance or start their own businesses.

Where does the training take place?
Training takes place in Dorset, mainly on the stunning Jurassic Coast – one of the best outdoor classrooms in the world. There are also epic weeks spent in Dartmoor to practice whitewater paddling and trad climbing.
When do the courses start?
Courses start at the beginning of November each year. Places are limited, so early booking is advised.
