The Big Swim Dorset is set to make waves on Saturday, 8 March 2025, at Sandbanks Beach in Poole and Brighton. This event, co-hosted by Land & Wave and PinkNicky, celebrates International Women’s Day by uniting female sea swimmers in a vibrant and supportive community.

Event Highlights:

• Dual Locations: Simultaneous swims at Sandbanks Beach in Dorset and Brighton Beach in East Sussex, aiming to gather 1,000 swimmers across both locations celebrating internationalwomensday.com
• Support for Surfers Against Sewage: The event proudly supports Surfers Against Sewage, a charity dedicated to protecting our oceans from pollution and fighting for a sustainable future.
• Community Celebration: A vibrant display of solidarity, uniting women through a shared love of the sea and support for female equality worldwide.

How to Participate:

Tickets for The Big Swim Dorset were limited to 500 participants for us to safely manage the event and went on sale on 20 January 2025. Due to high demand, tickets sold out quickly. To secure your spot on the waiting list, please visit the official event page HERE

Safety Measures:

The event ensures full safety coverage with lifeguards and first aiders on-site. Participants are advised to prepare for varying weather conditions and to follow the guidance provided during the safety briefing.

What to bring:

Your brightest swimwear / sparkles / feathers – anything goes! Water shoes or neoprene booties are recommended, plus a warm hat. Other useful things… a hot water bottle, a flask of hot squash or tea, cake (obviously), warm layers that are easy to chuck on after your swim. A speedy change after your swim is key to keeping warm.

Top Tips:

Breathe! Take your time to ease yourself into the water, keep your breathing steady – DO NOT dive head first into the water!
Wear comfy clothes that are easy to get on / off. You don’t want to be fannying around with complicated bras and skin-tight leggings after you get out of the water. Cosy joggers and jumpers are ideal.
Bring cake.
A flask of something warm is a great idea for before and after the swim.
Leave your valuables at home – keep it simple, enjoy the vibes.
