Outdoor Fitness Communities in Dorset

Autumn is quickly descending, make the most of the daylight. Meet like minded people and benefit your Mental and Physical Health

With Autumn quickly descending, it’s time to make the most out of the last of the day light. We all know the great outdoors is good for your health, both mentally and physically. Pair that with exercise and socialising – you’re onto a winner.

It’s important to take time for yourself; escape the stress of the day to day and change up the routine. The outdoors is the best place to do that.

Here are a few of our favourite Outdoor Fitness Communities who make the most of the awesome landscape we’re blessed with here in Dorset:

Maverick Run Project – Purbeck

The Maverick Race is already a big name in the outdoor endurance race scene; with Ultra marathons and Ironman events along the epic British Coastline.

The Maverick Run Project has hubs all over the UK, its FREE to join and there’s something happening almost every night of the week. From a ‘Slow and Steady 5k’ to ’10K +’ there’s something for all abilities. For a full list of hubs and more info, click here.

As a member of MRP (Maverick Run Project), you’ll also receive exclusive discounts on merch and Maverick Race events. Check out their Instagram page: @maverickrunproject and @purbeck_mrp.

You can sign up here for FREE, and start your trail running adventures before the nights close in.

Rockwater Life – Poole

Rockwater is a gorgeous beach side restaurant and cafe in Branksome Chime, Poole. Having only opened their doors in late 2023, they have jumped straight into the local community, partnering with numerous fitness professionals to bring you the ‘Rockwater Life’ program.

From Bootcamp to Barre-lates (Barre and Pilates – obviously.), there’s a class for all wants and needs. Their classes tend to run from 06.00 until mid morning with multiple classes per day. Ranging from free to £10, dependant on the class, its an absolute bargain.

You can find their full program and how to book here.

Cold Water Collective – Boscombe

Established in 2018, these saltwater seekers brave the waves in all weathers. It has been scientifically proven that cold water therapy has phenomenal benefits to your mental & physical health, and these guys got the memo.

If you’re not one for cold water and need a little bit more persuading you can read up on more of the benefits here.

You can find this community dipping at Boscombe Pier every Sunday morning at 10am. Often ending the session with a mug of Dorset tea on the beach.

Check out their Instagram page: @coldwatercollective

Take a Hike Collective – Dorset & New Forest

From morning to moonlight, the Take a Hike collective stomp all day and all night. Running casual walks all over Dorset and the New Forest.

This FREE group organises a range of walks in distances and times. Often warming up in a local pub at the end of the trek or taking a sea dip mid hike.

You can see upcoming treks on their Instagram page: @takeahikecollective

These are by no means the only outdoor fitness communities in Dorset. Every year there’s something new! No matter what you do, make sure you get outside and make the most of this Autumn!

One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. – Jean Vanier
