What is the ‘Gold DofE Residential’? | 4 Reasons to do your Gold DofE Residential with Land & Wave

Gold DofE Residential is the ultimate end to your Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Choosing the right one makes all the difference!

What is the ‘Gold DofE Residential’?

The Duke of Edinburgh award can be obtained at Bronze, Silver and Gold level, all of which are made up of 4 sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. To achieve your Gold DofE award you need to complete a 5th section: The Residential.

The Residential should be 5 days, 4 nights away from home; undertaking a shared activity with people you have never met before – sounds great, right! You can do your residential pretty much anywhere in the UK, from Dorset to Dundee.

You can book your Gold DofE residential with Land & Wave here.

Here are four reasons why you should do your Gold residential with us:

1. Location, Location, Location

Our stunning private campsite is located just outside of the Village of Corfe Castle, Dorset. Only a 10 minute drive from Wareham Train Station, you can get to us direct from London Waterloo in only 2.5 hours!

We also offer a FREE shuttle to and from the station to make your journey as simple as possible.

Start your days waking up to incredible views of the castle ruins before a day of adventurous activities around the Isle of Purbeck.

2. Qualifications

Unlike other Gold Residentials, you can obtain not one, but two qualifications!

Spend one day learning First aid, covering CPR, DR ABC and first responder duties. Spend a second day on your Paddle Safer Qualification: mastering water rescue skills to help yourself and others when paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing.

Both qualifications are fully accredited, incredibly useful and will look great on your CV.

3. The Activities

Alongside the two qualifications you’ll get, to take part in many amazing activities.

Spend the first afternoon getting to know your camp mates for the week with Team Building and Archery Tag.

The rest of the week can include Kayaking, Coasteering, Paddle Boarding, Jumbo Paddle Boarding, Bushcraft and Survival skills.

Even the evenings are busy with games, sports and campfires!

4. AMAZING Instructors

All of our instructors are AWESOME.

All our Instructors are highly qualified and DBS checked and will make sure you get the most out of your week with us.

They are always ready with a game or activity, from morning to evening. Many of our instructors have completed the Gold DofE themselves, so know what’s what.

If you think their job looks fun, you’d be right. You can find out more about making outdoor instructing a career here. Our team is always happy to chat with up and coming instructors about life in the outdoor industry

Overall, the 5 days spent completing your Gold DofE Residential should be a memorable one for all the right reasons; camping in a beautiful location, meeting new people with interests similar to your own and doing awesome activities.
