We offer training and assessment courses all over the UK. Our main teaching site is in Dorset, near Corfe Castle.

All sessions on the course are hands-on and you will get to try each and every skill below:
- Unit 1 - Tools
- Unit 2 - Fire
- Unit 3 - Shelter
- Unit 4 - Campfire Cooking & Hygiene
- Unit 5 - Knife Sharpening
- Unit 6 - Wood Work
- Unit 7 - Game Preparation (bird)
- Unit 8 - Game Preparation (fish)
- Unit 9 - Fire Lighting Development
- Unit 10 - Introduction to Friction Fire Lighting

All sessions on the course are hands-on and you will get to try each and every skill below:
- Unit 1 - Advanced Knifework
- Unit 2 - Charcloth Production 
- Unit 3 - Natural Tinder
- Unit 4 - Axes
- Unit 5 - Friction Fire Development
- Unit 6 - Tree ID
- Unit 7 - Food
- Unit 8 - Water

To complete the certification process, you  need to complete an assessment. The candidate needs to be observed leading a session by us for half a day (3 hours).

This can be done at your school / work setting with a group of your students / colleagues or alternatively, you can come and work on an existing Land & Wave session.

The cost of the assessment is £132pp (subject to location of the assessment).
We can assess up to four people at one time.

Please note that the assessment must take place within 1 year of attending the training course.

After your training course, participants need to run 16 hours of sessions before you take your assessment. These can be onsite at your school / workplace setting.

We can also help provide you with sessions you can shadow and lead at Land & Wave. These sessions are not observed, but they do need to be logged by the individual.

Please wear fire resistant clothing that you don't mind getting muddy or smoky.
Wear warm layers if the weather is looking cold.
Walking boots or sturdy trainers.
Also bring a substantial lunch and drinks bottle.

As with all adventurous activities Bushcraft comes with associated risks. Land & Wave Instructors will give clear instructions on how to complete each activity safely. It is important that all participants listen carefully and follow these instructions.

Please be careful, burns and cuts are likely unless care is taken.

If cooking or preparing fish and game please wash your hands thoroughly and often, hygiene is really important.

When washing your hands please clean under your nails and above your wrist.

Your session may be cut short or cancelled at any point if the instructor deems it inappropriate for any individual's ability. 

You will be involved throughout the activity in the decision making process. If you feel overwhelmed or unwell at any point you MUST tell your instructor who will be able to react accordingly.

Bushcraft is a physical activity that takes place in the great outdoors; accidental injury is possible.

Accidents can happen; Land & Wave do not accept any responsibility for personal injury unless we have been negligent.

You must tell your instructor about any health issues which may impact your participation such as;

  • Asthma
  • Severe Allergies
  • Mobility Issues 
  • Heart or respiratory issues
  • Mental Health Concerns
  • previous medical issues we should be aware of  (Surgeries) 
  • Or anything else that will impact the activity described above
