Sam Locke started her career in the Outdoor Industry when she joined a Land & Wave Instructor Training course on the 3rd of November 2013. She had signed up for 14 weeks of intensive training over the winter.

Prior to the course, Sam was travelling in South America and had been working in health and fitness. Sam wanted a career that was active, positive and that offered good scope for professional development…

Sam finished Accelerated Instructor Training in February 2014. She excelled on the course and achieved a 100% pass rate.

Sam started working for Land & Wave as a Seasonal Instructor in April 2014; she thrived working in the great outdoors and spent the summer throwing herself into the sea, running sessions on the beach, walking in the hills and entertaining people in the woods.

Sam decided that she wanted to live and work in Swanage, so she started working for Land & Wave as a full time instructor November 2014.

She spent the winter working with hard-to-reach young people, training BTEC students and running awesome outdoor sessions.

Sam was promoted to Lead Instructor in Spring 2015; she managed projects, kept instructors working hard and made sure all our clients had Epic Experiences.

Sam started studying to achieve a Level 3 Award in Education and Training at the start of September 2014, Land & Wave paid for her training, which she undertook alongside her role as lead instructor.

Sam has become a key member of the Outdoor Education team at Land & Wave; she teaches in college at least one day a week, leads practical sessions in the landscape with our BTEC students and continues to provide excellent outdoor experiences for school children, families, stag groups and businesses.

Sam started studying to achieve Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training at the start of September 2015; she’ll be a fully qualified teacher in July 2016 and will do even more to help us make our BTEC courses in Outdoor Adventure the best in the business.

Sam’s just bought a house in sunny Swanage. She’s one of the amazing people that make up the heart of Land & Wave.

Land & Wave can do what it does because of the people that work really hard every day to make sure our clients have Epic Experiences. We think that our Instructors, Team Leaders and Lead Instructors are second to none. We’re immensely proud that they choose to live and work at Land & Wave.
