George’s training countdown

It’s now 1 week and 5 days to the big day! That is probably the most worrying thought I have had in a long time. I’m not worried because I’m not ready, in my view I couldn’t be more ready.

It’s almost here! George Roger’s Head 2 Home massive fundraising challenge!

It’s now 1 week and 5 days to the big day! That is probably the most worrying thought I have had in a long time. I’m not worried because I’m not ready, in my view I couldn’t be more ready. Having said this, I’m aware that no matter how ready I am, Head2Home is still going to be one of the toughest days of my life, mentally and physically. I have been practicing every aspect of the challenge a lot and there is nothing I am not prepared for.

I’m very pleased that I’ve managed to gather quite a crowd to run, cycle and walk with me on the day and this number is increasing all the time. On top of this, I am ecstatic that the sponsors are coming in as fast as they are and that everyone is being so generous.

As well as training on the streets and in the sea, I’ve been spending a lot of time in the gym recently improving stamina and strength. This will help me with my challenge on the 21st September and will also help further my swimming career along with all of your kind donations!

My swim training is also going very well as I enter the new season ready and raring for action. I shall have regional competitions in Southampton and Bristol first before my national championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. I’m really looking forward to showing everybody what I’ve got!

After Head2Home, I plan on increasing the amount of time I have in the pool by quite a lot with more sessions in Dorchester and more sessions with my coach at Canford School so in no way am I relaxing after the event. Head2Home has really motivated me to work even harder in realising my dream because it has both shown me that I have the physical strength necessary and the support behind me from all who have sponsored, helped, encouraged or advised me throughout the training process.

I plan to keep up these blogs for Land & Wave to let everybody know how I am getting on in the swimming world. Thank you all so much for following me on my journey and again for your generous sponsorship. I know that all of you will be rooting for me on the day and I will do my best to do you all proud.

Thank-you again.
